I wanted to explore the relation between the rigid labels we impose on ourselves and the fluid, impermanent reality of being human. Having travelled these past few months has taught me that identity is not a monument, but a weather system. The person we are today is a stranger to the person we will become tomorrow. I decided to take an object, in this case a lamp, and transform it into a piece that represents impermanence, through ceramics; A material that in itself originates from the earth and undergoes a permanent transformation through fire. In a sense: A modular ceramic system.
